Ukhozi FM presenter Bheka Mchunu is no longer with us. He had been battling an illness for a long time. TV host Linda Sibiya confirmed his passing through Twitter on March 13, 2024.
Bheka ‘Beekay’ Mchunu was the Founder and Director of KZN Matric Excellence (Matric Upgrade School).
Additionally, he was an FM presenter or radio host. He began his radio career at Durban Youth Radio, hosting a late-night show called “Lovers Nest” on weekdays.
The day before his passing, a family member mentioned that Beekay became seriously ill yesterday afternoon and was rushed to the Esikhawini Clinic, but sadly, there was no hope.

The details regarding the late FM presenter’s better half have not been disclosed. However, he was married.
With his wife, he was blessed with two children, a boy and a baby girl.

Bheka Mchunu Was Hospitalized For Three Weeks
Bheka was seriously ill on March 12 and was rushed to the Esikhawini Clinic, but it was of no help.
Mchunu’s family has not disclosed the exact illness of Bheka, from which he passed away.
In 2021, the radio host had to take over three weeks off because he was hospitalized. During that time, Khetha Gwala had to do his job on the radio.
Then, in December 2022, Beekay had to stop working on the radio again. This time, he got sick while doing his weekend music show, Sigiya Ngengoma.
He said his throat hurt a lot when he got sick. In October 2022, his show suddenly stopped because he fainted.
The people in charge of the show had to play music instead. There was a time when he had to go home to his family because he needed help. He couldn’t work for months during that time.
Not to forget, popular TV host Linda Sibiya respected his friend Bheka. He shared a small tribute to him by posting a memorable moment they shared.

Bheka even said that his brother was trying everything so he could be healed from his illness.
